Magic-Rockets and Pistons-Blazers to Open Vegas Summer League

The NBA Summer League will begin with a little midnight madness, at least in some countries.

And if the Orlando Magic retains the No. 1 draft pick, this player won’t be waiting long for his summer debut.

The league released the 75-game summer league schedule on Monday, with Game 1 in Las Vegas set to pit Orlando against Houston on July 7 at 10 p.m. ET. That game will be followed by a midnight East warning between Portland and Detroit, with those two matchups being the only ones on Day 1’s schedule.

Most teams will open their Las Vegas slates on July 8 or 9. All 30 NBA teams will participate, all playing five games.

The first four games for each team are scheduled until July 15. The league will then seed the 30 teams for one final game each.

The top two seeds will play a league game on July 17, and all other teams will play their last game on July 16 or July 17.

There are two other smaller summer leagues this year, a four-team, four-game event hosted by the Golden State Warriors on July 2-3 and a four-team, six-game event hosted by the Utah Jazz from July 5 July to July 7.
