The great old lady of Portland will join Hilton’s Curio collection in October 2021 and get a makeover.
Portland’s most traditional hotel, The Benson, will join Curio Collection, part of the Hilton portfolio, in October 2021.
The Benson will still be owned by existing stakeholders and will be managed by Coast Hospitality, but will be renamed Hilton, part of their Curio collection.
The change will be more than just a name change. The Old Lady of Broadway’s renovation will include “renovations to the hotel’s common areas, including meeting space, lobby, and outlets (food and drink),” according to a statement from Hilton.
“The 287-room hotel will continue to be operated by Seattle-based Coast Hospitality Management with design inspiration led by architectural firm GGLO. The property will remain open during all renovation plans.
George Schweitzer, Managing Director of Benson, said: “This allows us to provide our guests with an enhanced, authentic Portland experience with connectivity to the global Hilton Honors guest loyalty program. ”
Curio Collection by Hilton is a global portfolio of more than 100 hotels and resorts, and each offers travelers local deals and unexpected amenities to suit every type of traveler while remaining part of the Hilton loyalty program, Hilton Honors.
Honors members will have access to contactless technology through the Hilton Honors mobile app and will be able to check in, choose their room and access their room using a digital key.
The 1913 Benson is the only hotel in Portland with a Presidential Suite. In 2018, The Benson completed a two-year, $ 14 million renovation of its rooms and suites. The website still boasts of having two LCD TVs and an “alarm clock / radio with iPod docking station”.
