Roadworks at Portland Beach Road will be completed “by the end of the week”
ROAD WORK on a key road from Weymouth to Portland is expected to be completed “by the end of the week”.
Night road users have been delayed on the A354, Portland Beach Road since last Thursday (April 8) after road markings began.
The work, which begins late in the evening to avoid rush hour, is being carried out by contractor WJ South West on behalf of Dorset Council between Hamm roundabout and Osprey Quay roundabout.
A spokesperson for Dorset Council said: “Our contractor WJ is doing night work to refresh the high friction coating (colored material) on the approaches to Hamm Roundabout and Osprey Quay Roundabout.”
Work is expected to be completed by the end of today (April 15) before work crews move to the next section of road near the Wide Street roundabout in Portland.
“They hope to finish the work tonight, the other dates were reserved in case of bad weather delaying them.
The workers will then proceed to the Wide Street roundabout in Portland and complete that by the end of the week. ”
A spokeswoman for WJ South West said any comments on the work would come from Dorset Council.
A temporary three-way light is set up when approaching the roundabouts where the work is taking place.
