Weymouth man taken to hospital after crash on Portland Beach Road
Emergency services were called in for a collision on the A354 Portland Beach Road near Ferry Bridge involving a blue Toyota Supra shortly before 7 a.m. this morning.
A car has been reported to have overturned following an accident involving two cars.
The driver of the Toyota – a man from Weymouth in his 30s – was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are classified as serious.
Road closures have been put in place and motorists have been advised by Dorset Council’s Travel Dorset service that all trips between Wyke and Portland are to be rescheduled in both directions.
No general traffic, including buses, was allowed beyond the premises.
These road closures were lifted shortly before 8 a.m.
The police are now calling for witnesses.
Traffic Unit Constable Donal Doyle said: “We are conducting a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision.
“I would love to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t spoken to the police before.
“I am also looking forward to hearing from any motorists who were in the area at the time and who may have relevant dashcam footage to aid my investigation.”
