I love cooking with apples because they have a sweet, crisp flavor that pairs well with just about any other ingredient. Apple Recipes don’t always have to be sweet- they can be savory! In fact, I’ve been known to add them to everything from breakfast foods to desserts! And while you might think of apple pie when it comes to dessert recipes, there are so many more delicious ways you can incorporate this fruit into your meal plan.
With fall comes one of my favorite family activities- apple picking! My favorite part, of course, is sampling the cider and consuming apple fritter or apple cider donuts!
One of my favorite apple recipes is the Classic Apple Pie. I worked in a bakery when I was 17 and peeled bushel after bushel of apples. After a few months, they taught me how to make all different varieties of apple pie. The Apple Cream Crumble topping was always my favorite. Do you have a favorite type of Apple Pie?
Apple tip: When baking with apples, use apple varieties that hold up well to heat. Honeycrisp and Granny Smith are good varieties for this recipe.
