Accessories in the 1960's
The 60's also known as the 'swinging sixties' as seen as a time for breaking rules and freedom. Freedom was shown by what accessories were worn by different people.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses were very popular to wear on the beach since the 30's, sunglasses for women to wear during daily activities became more popular during the 1960's. From the 'cat eye' to the 'bug eye', girls were protecting their eyes from the sun in an array of unique styles.
Hats
Hats were small on the head but designed with a great detail of flowers lace, veils and luxurious embellishments and trim. The pillox style hat which was rounded, fitted hat that sits firm against the head was popular thanks to First Lady Jacqeline "Jackie O" Kennedy wearing it often.
Brooches, Jewelry and Earrings
Pins and broaches, bangles and bracelets and over size clip-on or "screw-on" earrings were all the rage for accessories. Pearls were also popular for the conservative girls, while long chains of bright beads, dangle earrings and peace sign necklaces were worn by hippy chicks.
