A decade ago, finding plus size clothing for teens was like trying to find the holy grail. Ok, exaggeration, I know. But back then we had options like Lane Bryant and Torrid. That was pretty much it. Looking for plus size clothing for teens and young adults was a challenging task (and expensive) with not very many happy shoppers. Today, more websites and brick and mortar stores are starting to offer a more extensive assortment of designs for plus size fashionistas.

Getting online is a great place to start to discover new plus-sizebrands. A lot of plus size influencers on Instagram offer daily, outfits and fashion inspo, too. You never know if you’ll discover a favorite new brand through their feed. More teen-focused fashion sites have heard the voices for larger sizes and are starting to do more with their collections.

- ASOS Curve is probably my favorite place for the latest trends in all clothing sizes, but their plus collection is pretty gorgeous.

The buyers at MC are definitely on point and listen to their customers closely! Cute ‘n’ quirky prints? Check. Retro silhouettes? Got it. Everyday wardrobe staples? Yep! Whether you’re a workaholic, weekend warrior, woman-about-town, or all of the above, they have plus-size clothing in styles you’ll fall in love with.
- Forever21 Plus offers a beautiful mix of on-trend styles for the fashionable teen and young adult. From casual to an evening out show-stopper dress.
- Torrid – This store particularly designs for a more junior and contemporary adult. Here you will discover everything from pants, to dresses and even swimwear in sizes 10-30
- Hot Topic – YES, Please. If you are an edgy or fangirl teen, you probably love everything about the clothes at Hot Topic

Where to Find Plus Size Clothing for Teens (locally)
Sometimes it’s just easier to drive to your local mall or shopping center to find what you’re looking for. In that case, here are some great stores to find trendy plus sized clothes. The good part about actually shopping in person is you get to try the clothes on. So, if you’re pressed for time, I’d say shopping local is your best option. No returns to deal with.
- Hot TopicHot Topic, just like its online version but live and in person! Head over to your nearest mall and you’ll probably find a Hot Topic. The selection might be less and vary from store to store, but definitely worth a look
- Kohl’sI used to hate on Kohls a little bit. Now, I totally get what my mother was raving about all those years. Kohl’s has a very nice section of plus sizes in their juniors section. I ain’t mad about it.
- Old Navy I honestly haven’t been into an Old Navy in forever, but judging from the selection online, their plus size collection gets my stamp of approval.
- Ross Just like TJ Maxx, Ross offers a pretty large selection of last season’s collections and great deals for plus size clothes.
- TJ Maxx or Marshall’sI shop at TJ Maxx more than I’d like to admit. One of my favorite places to find a bargain (and Rae Dunn coffee mugs)!
- Target Who doesn’t love Target? The trusty one-stop shop retailer has a few cute options for sure, and definitely budget friendly!
- Local Thrift Stores Keep in mind that since more retailers are starting to offer plus size teen clothes, there will be more of them in thrift stores. This is a perfect place to shop if you’re on a tight budget or want to find something unique.
- Another idea is to look atThredUp or eBay.
Some girls get creative and even make their own clothing. I did 🙂 You can start with a simple dress, or even a special occasion dress or prom gown. A lot of teens are opting to try their hand at designing their own collections. it’s pretty awesome -and ambitious! Check your local JoAnne’s for patterns and fabric inspiration.
