Whether you’re making it as a gift for a friend or as a special treat for yourself, a crochet sweater vest is a fun and rewarding project that anyone can enjoy.

The vest is constructed from bottom up. You will start working on the bottom hem that uses single crochet worked through back loop only.

Once you reach your chosen size chest circumference, you will join it into a round hem.

You will then work the main body around the long edge of the bottom hem. The bottom part uses crochet rice stitch that is crocheted in closed rounds.

Once you reach the armholes, you will then work up the front and back panels separately.

Both panels use half double crochet through third loop only aka camel stitch. I have a quick video on my YouTube channel to demonstrate.

The front panel is further shaped and has a V shaped neckline.

You will only have the sew the front and back panels together at the shoulders.

The crochet sweater vest is then finished off with a couple of rounds around the V neck opening to tidy it up.
