Traveling from another state to see a new doctor, I was very anxious. When Dr. Gary walked in and introduced himself in such a kind way, my anxiety disappeared. He had a calmness about him that calmed me. He was observant, very knowledgeable, attentive and excellent bedside manner. He listened, asked questions, went over my MRI with me in detail and made a plan. He was absolutely amazing and I feel blessed to have him as my new specialist.

Dr. Gary spoke in clear terms regarding my healthcare plan. He took time to go over the mylegram/CT Scan and explained exactly what the scans showed.

Dr Gary has changed. Very disappointed on him. Acted like he did not care I'm in alot of pain nor did he seem concerned I'm overdosing on Tylenol.

From the tech to the nurse to Dr. Gary, the staff was excellent. Dr. Gary always treats me like gold with no arrogance as I am not a patient who responds well to a doctor that conducts themselves with an air of arrogance. Dr Gary is the best. He is kind and empathetic to my problem. His use of endoscopy is wonderful! My back surgery incision is a pimple. He was able to almost immediately relieve me of the severe pain I had been experiencing for months and I am deeply grateful.

Both Dr Gary- who explained well using his computer images, and Jeanne Buffington were excellent, knowledgeable, and spent time explaining things. Also both were personable and professional! A wonderful blend!

Without a doubt! I would recommend Dr. Matthew Gary to anyone suffering with debilitating pain in their spine and hip. He's very encouraging! And I'm sure my health is in good hands as he is going to be my surgeon in this very scary situation of going under the knife. He is kind and he is intelligent. And he is very soft-spoken and thorough and I like that about him. God bless Dr. Matthew Gary, and all of the Emory staff.

It was a follow up from surgery so they were no treatment, instructions, or decisions about my care to do. Dr. Gary was actually pretty nice! He almost smiled!

Care is fine but my biggest complaint is follow through. For example, Dr Gary mentioned that he wanted another radiologist to look at mri and analyze if it is really c4-5 or if it could be c5-6 and I have heard nothing since then. I am wondering why I did an injection earlier this year when they didn't even know the correct area. Communication seems poor.

Talks with Doctor most productive as we look for a real solution to my complicated illness.

Was pleased I was shown the image he was concerned about. Explained his concern. Told which surgeries he would do but not why or any details about the surgery. Left abruptly and didn't get to finish asking questions or thank him.

Dr Matthew Gary listened to all my concerns, explained MRI imaging in a way that made sense. Was very direct and informative without making us feel rushed.

It would be nice though when he discusses what you can as can't do through your spinal post op care to give you printouts off exercisers and instructions (or if they were any in the portal) would be so helpful as I forget what he told me by the time I get home especially when you are on pain meds. There is no better doctor than Mr. Gary, he truly cares about his patients. He listened to all my co concerns and took all the time I needed.

I also talked with a young neurosurgeon before Dr. Gary came in and he answered some questions I had. He also checked out my incisions from the spinal reconstruction surgeries from last July and said they looked fabulous and had healed beautifully. Dr. Gary was the first doctor of 3(including him)who asked me if I wanted to see my MRI, which I did, and explained in very easy terms what I was seeing and what needed to be done. He also listened to our questions, explained why invasive surgery is the only option, explained about the bone fusion procedure and when he was leaving, he told me he would take good care of me. I really appreciated that because I was pretty anxious by that time, although thankful for the truth, and I was very comforted by those kind words.
