Greek Chicken Burger Recipe - Food Meanderings (1)

This burger is great for grilling season and the ideal healthy grilling recipe for Father's Day. However, it's popular any time of the year, as it can be made in a skillet or in the air fryer as well. This recipe was inspired by my Award-winning Mediterranean Chicken and Wild Rice Cups on this site and is ww friendly.

Garnish with Tzatziki, red onion, tomatoes, and fresh mint, and squeeze a little lemon juice over the chicken. Or use any other fillings you prefer.

Hint: If barbecuing on an outdoor grill, let the grill run for 4-5 minutes to burn off any remnants, then clean it. I like to use this bristle-free grill brush (affiliate link) for cleaning the grill.

💭 Top Tip #1

If you don't have ground chicken breast and don't have a meat grinder, you can simply use a food processor to do it: How to grind chicken without a meat grinder

📖Variations & Substitutions

  • Chicken- alternatively, you could use lean ground turkey.
  • Pita bread - you can use white or whole wheat pita bread (use a low-carb pita bread for lower WW points) with this recipe. Alternatively, you can use a hamburger bun or another type of bun.
  • Oil- you can use any type of oil you prefer, but I use olive oil. It's easiest to brush it on the grill.
  • Garlic - you could use minced garlic in a jar or garlic powder instead of fresh garlic cloves.
  • Fillings- I like to use tzatziki, red onion, tomatoes, and fresh mint, but you can use whatever type of filling you like, including other fresh herbs such as dill or parsley. You could also use cucumber slices and red pepper if you prefer.

🥗 Side Dishes

These Greek burgers pair well with the following side dishes:

  • Greek Style Potatoes
  • Greek salad or Garden salad
  • Easy Greek Rice (with Lemon)
  • Healthy Greek Pasta Salad
  • Quick Cucumber Kimchi (shown)
  • Easy Healthy Tzatziki Sauce (with Greek yogurt and fresh dill)

🍽Equipment

You will need a grill if you are grilling these Greek burgers. You can use an outdoor bbq grill, an indoor grill, a stovetop grill, or simply use a fryingpan/skillet. You could also make them in the air fryer. If you don't have a meat grinder attachment for your mixer, use a food processor to grind the chicken breast (see top tips). You'll also find that an instant-read thermometer (affiliate links) is ideal for checking doneness of chicken (chicken is very easy to overcook).

🌡️Storage

Store this Greek-style chicken burger in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Store the toppings separately. The pita bread can be stored in a plastic bag at room temperature.

These burgers can be frozen for up to 3 months in an airtight container.

👪 Serving Size

This recipe makes 8 juicy Greek chicken burgers. However, you can half, double, or triple the recipe by clicking on theblueserving number and selecting the number of servings you'd like. The ingredient quantities will automatically adjust.

🔢WW Points

This recipe is Weight Watchers friendly @ 5 ww points (with regular pita and light feta not including tzatziki sauce).

If you use a low-carb pita (like Joseph's) and fat-free feta cheese, it will bring the burger down to 4 points each.

If you use my low-fat tzatziki sauce, it's only 1 ww point per 2 tbsp.

💭Top tip #2

Don't overcook the burgers! Sear the outside and cook to a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Using an instant-read thermometer is the best way to check for doneness. They should still be juicy for the best results.

🦺Food safety

  • Cook chicken breast to an internal minimum temperature of 165 °F (74 °C)

  • Wash hands after touching raw meat
  • Don't leave food sitting out at room temperature for extended periods
