How To Duplicate Weapons In Zelda: BOTW (2024 Glitches) (2024)

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, weapons are a big concern, as everything outside the Master Sword will be destroyed once its durability is used up. However, duplicating weapons can help alleviate this frustration and give your favorite items a longer life. To do this, players must use one of the many glitches still operating in the game, even several years after its release.

The trick for duplicating weapons can be used to duplicate traditional weapons, bows, and shields. It's a relatively simple process but will require Link to have the desired items he wishes to duplicate, access to his house and weapon displays, and he needs to have at least seven multi-shot bows with a lightning arrow in his inventory. Be sure you have some spare weapons you are okay with losing as well.

How To Duplicate Weapons in Zelda: BOTW

Best Glitch For Duplicating Swords, Spears, Bows, and Shields

To begin, Link needs to return to his home with the aforementioned items in his inventory or on his person. Once there, go ahead and create a save file. Now, equip one of the multi-shot bows, a lightning arrow, and the weapon or shield you wish to duplicate. Exit the inventory and ensure Link is actively holding the bow as if he is about to aim and fire. From here, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your inventory and drop the bow Link was holding. Before closing the inventory, equip another bow and have Link hold it.
  2. Now re-open the inventory and drop that bow as well.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until Link appears to have glitched when in inventory view. This may mean that he appears to have no body and just be a floating head or something else that is noticeably strange.
  4. When you see this glitch on Link, your menu is overloaded, and you can begin the duplication process.
  5. Open your inventory and equip any Zelda: BOTW weapon other than the one you were carrying and wanted to duplicate. When you do this, you should not see the item change on the Link shown in inventory.
  6. Exit the inventory, and Link should still be holding the weapon you wanted to duplicate originally despite having equipped another.
  7. Place that weapon on display, or throw it, and then pick it back up.
  8. Open your inventory, and you should see that the weapon you just equipped has been duplicated and replaced with the one you just equipped.

The items you sacrifice in favor of the item you wish to duplicate will be gone. Do not use an item you would like to keep or duplicate later on because it will be replaced with the weapon, shield, or bow you wish to duplicate. For this reason, you should bring additional weapons you can spare and put your valuable ones elsewhere, like on other display cases, for the duration of this process.

Now that you have duplicated your weapon, you can repeat the process if you would like to duplicate it more than once or repeat steps 5-8 with a shield instead of a weapon to duplicate that item.

Note that shields will need to be placed on a display case; only weapons can either be placed or thrown before being picked back up. Unfortunately, if the last bow you equipped was different from the one you wished to duplicate, you will have to take a few additional steps.

You will need to drop the bow, open your inventory, and equip another. When you exit the inventory, Link should be holding nothing. Use the quick equip shortcut to equip the bow you want to duplicate again, and then hold it as if ready to aim.

Now open your inventory again, change to a bow you are fine with being rid of, and then exit and place that bow on the display case before picking it back up. The correct bow should now have been duplicated in your Zelda: Breath of the Wild inventory.

When you are all finished, be sure to save your file. This method can be used whenever Link wishes to duplicate any of these items. It's recommended you do this when you get down to the last of your favorite items to avoid accidentally losing them before you have the chance to duplicate them.

This is just one of the many useful glitches within The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 2024 that can make your new or returning adventure much more enjoyable.
