...it's been unopened in the fridge. The date on it is 10/9, today's 13/9.
Would you eat it?

If it has been kept nice and cool, then I would open and sniff. If it smells fine, then a wee taste. If that is okay, then I'd eat it.

scampadoodle · 13/09/2009 19:29

Unless it's actually mouldy, it'll be fine. Shame to waste it...yum. Have you made a crumble?

mckenzie · 13/09/2009 19:40

thanks guys. No crumble but the DCs and i made a lemon drizzle cake earlier on today. That will have to do. Or I could cook the M&S apple pie that is also past it's date (not good food/menu planning this week at all )

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 13/09/2009 19:42

No as it is dairy but then I never eat anything past its date.

It'll be fine. We regard sell-by dates as fiction in this house. If it smells OK then it is OK.

I tend to ignore use by / best before dates and trust my eyes / nose / taste buds (usually in that order)
