MARTHA'S VINEYARD TIMES LOOKING FOR REPORTERS

The Martha’s Vineyard Times is expanding its news coverage and looking for a dedicated and hardworking staff news reporter and paid summer interns to join our award-winning newsroom.

Successful candidates for these positions will be responsible for researching, investigating, interviewing, and delivering compelling stories that capture the essence of our rich and diverse Island community.

We are specifically looking to deepen our coverage of the vibrant history of culture, faith and politics in the island's storied Black community and in exploring new avenues into a growing number of immigrant communities, including the Brazilian population which now represents approximately 20 percent of year-round residents.

Possessing knowledge of other languages — especially Portuguese and Spanish — is not required but would be valued.

Both the staff reporting position and the paid internship role will involve the following: cultivating sources, attending local events, and writing daily news stories and producing fresh angles to keep our audience informed and engaged.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for storytelling, exceptional writing skills, and a commitment to accuracy.

The deadline for the summer internship is April 15. The deadline for the staff reporting position is June 1.

Interested candidates send a cover letter, writing samples, and resume to editor@mvtimes.com.

The positions do not include housing, however, assistance will be offered to candidates in their search.
