Michigan high school football AP rankings after Week 4, where Northern Michigan teams stand (2024)

If there were such a thing as a midway point in a nine-game schedule, we might be at it right now in Week 4.5.

With another week – and that half part – a new set of Associated Press Michigan High School Football rankings were recently released, with the same teams around Northern Michigan making an appearance.

There was some movement, however, and some teams that did indeed drop out.

Within Division 3, Gaylord (4-0) stayed within the poll, moving up from No. 10 to No. 8 with a shutout victory over Petoskey.

The Blue Devils next head to Cadillac (3-1) who actually received a few votes and made the honorable mention list in Division 3 after three straight wins.

In Division 6, Kingsley (3-1) dropped a spot from No. 5 to No. 6, as Gladstone (3-1) moved up in the poll.

After receiving a pair of votes in the first Week 4 rankings and a spot in the honorable mention group, Charlevoix (3-1) actually fell out of the Division 7 poll altogether, despite a 50-6 win over rival and previously unbeaten East Jordan (3-1).

The Red Devils actually still received one vote to remain inside the honorable mention of the Division 8 rankings.

Also in Division 8, Frankfort (4-0) moved up from No. 10 to No. 9.

In the 8-Player polls, a lot of movement took place after a big week.

Northern Michigan had two ranked matchups and three of the four teams remained in the rankings, all four still in the poll.

No. 2 Pickford (4-0) defeated No. 10 Rudyard 44-43 in double overtime, though Pickford fell to No. 3 when No. 4 Gobles (4-0) earned a lopsided win over No. 1 Martin. Rudyard (3-1) then fell into the honorable mention category.

St. Ignace (4-0) and Inland Lakes (3-1) also each entered Friday tied at No. 7 in the rankings and there was some shifting when St. Ignace earned a 30-28 victory over the Bulldogs. St. Ignace jumped to No. 5, while Inland Lakes moved to No. 9.

Gaylord St. Mary (3-1) also stayed within the Division 1 8-Player rankings with a couple votes, with their lone loss only to No. 3 Pickford.
