Another tagalong post bc it’s been SUCH an impactful week… raising your hand to do something out of the norm can be an incredibly rewarding experience.I’m bouncing around between 🗽NYC (MACH Alliance Conference and Chief meetups)❤️Philly (#Apartmentalize with HIO)👦Fairfax (visit with family)🍷DC area (Chief winery tour){Flixbus and Amtrak ftw, btw}None of these are things I HAD to do, but (a) kids were gone for the week, and (b) I had the luxury of PTO to allow for interesting things happen.I fully realize taking a week to blitz around major cities isn’t realistic for everyone. (Honestly, if you’d told me in advance that I would thread the needle like this, I probably would have laughed at you.)For you, it may look like -volunteering at your kids’ schools, -going to a professional happy hour (I recommend taking a friend or spouse so you can be each other’s sidekicks), -signing up for an adult rec league, or -doing a single group class at your gym.You don’t have to change the world with one blip in your routine (although if you do, please share in the Comments!), but shifting your momentum for just a moment can enrich your perspective across all things. This often plays out in the midst of projects and/or professional daily life too, btw.And … who knows what kind of fun you’ll have along the way?!TL;DR: Take a chance on disrupting your norm to do something a little ‘extra’. Regardless of size, budget, or mission, associations continue to struggle with ideas to engage 20-somethings.
