Prime Video top 10 movies — here are the 3 worth watching now (1)

Prime Video, one of our picks for the best streaming services, has always had a diverse and compelling selection of movies. With thousands of titles at your fingertips, it can be challenging to decide what to watch next. And as someone who spends so much time scrolling, I completely understand how frustrating this can be.

Don’t worry though, because we’ve narrowed down Prime Video's current top 10 movies to highlight three that are worth streaming. There's plenty to enjoy on Prime at the moment, including one of the best movies of 2023, a spooky video game adaptation or a romance to get lost in.

Without further ado, here are the three movies you should watch in Prime Video’s top 10 list.

This is based on the Prime Video top 10 movies as of Friday, June 21.

‘Oppenheimer’

If you've yet to see one-half of the movie event of 2023 (the other being "Barbie", obviously), now's your chance: "Oppenheimer" is now available to stream on Prime Video.

Christopher Nolan's biographical epic, unsurprisingly, chronicles the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who served as director of the Manhattan Project's Los Alamos Laboratory. It draws from the 2005 biography, "American Prometheus", and depicts various milestones from throughout his life, including the Trinity test, his studies in Oppenheimer's younger years, and his role in influencing nuclear policy after the war.

"Oppenheimer" won tons of praise upon release, is driven by a bravura performance from Cillian Murphy in the lead role, and won no less than seven Oscars earlier this year. Don't miss out; stream it now.

‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’

"Five Nights at Freddy's" is a horror movie adaptation of the popular video game series of the same name. The plot focuses on a troubled security guard named Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), who takes a night shift job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a once-popular family entertainment center. As Mike begins his shifts, he quickly realizes that the night job is far more dangerous than he anticipated when the animatronic characters at Freddy's come to life after midnight.

Being such a fan of the games, I couldn’t help but love this movie, despite the awful reviews from critics. While it’s not the best horror movie ever, it’s still worth a go, and the 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes proves that viewers did enjoy it.

‘The Idea of You'

Fancy something a little lighter? Want to get lost in a romantic comedy? Then "The Idea of You" is well worth adding to your watchlist. It's based on the novel of the same name by Robinne Lee and follows Solène Marchand, a 40-year-old divorced mother and art gallery owner from LA.

Solène has to take her daughter to Coachella to attend a meet and greet with her favorite boy band, August Moon. After a mishap at the festival, she crosses paths with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, the band's lead singer, and the movie chronicles the unexpected love story that blossoms between them. It was positively received upon release and has hung around in the Top 10 for a while, meaning people are clearly enjoying it still.
