12A KILGORE NEWS HERALD Sunday, August 2, 1992 Coming Kilgore police will test the city's civil defense siren behind Kilgore City Hall, 909 N. Kilgore, at 12 noon Tuesday, according to Kilgore Police Captain Marvin Avance. A "Back-to-School Youth Revival" will be 7 p.m. Aug. 10-12 at Gladewater's First Assembly of God, with guest speakers Kendall and Starla Bridges of Houston.

Each program will focus on "hot issues" and equipping youth to return to school. Refreshments will be served. All area youth are invited to attend. For more information, call 845-5078. Supporters of Sabine High School athletics are urged to sponsor this year's athletic schedule poster program which will include the date, time and location of Cardinal football games.

Representatives from Commercial Newspaper Service of Springfield, Mo. have been authorized to contact local merchants. Personal posters also will be distributed. Dr. Larry Hodges, a geology professor from Southwest University, Bolivar, will fill the pulpit at Calvary Baptist Church Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

A plant and rummage sale will be held Monday through at the Catholic Church Hall, Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 1407 Broadway. Orientation for London West Rusk Kindergarten will be on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the London Elementary building.

The meeting will be for parents or guardians only. T.R. Mills, London Elementary principal; and Susie Philpott and Debbie Kitchings, kindergarten teachers, urge all parents or guardians to be present at this meeting where they will receive supply lists, handbooks, lunch application forms, and other information for the 1992-93 school year. Newsmakers LONDON (AP) Michael Jackson appeared on his hotel balcony to help keep a fan from committing suicide, police said. The 28-year-old man perched on a parapet across from Jackson's hotel Friday and shouted, "I want to see Michael! I'm going to jump if I don't," according to Press Association, the British national news agency. Police contacted Jackson, and he appeared on his Dorchester Hotel balcony for about two minutes, waving to the man and to fans gathered below, police said.
