Tripadvisor has unveiled the results of its annual Travellers’ Choice Awards, which include a selection of the best hotels, restaurants, bars and activities around the world.

In light of this, we’ve rounded up Manchester’s must-visit restaurants and bars based on the top-rated locations on Tripadvisor.

The five best bars in Manchester according to TripAdvisor:

1. The laundry

Open seven days a week, The Washhouse is a secret themed bar that offers a weird twist on a laundromat.

Their “friendly staff won’t do your laundry,” the website states, but will instead serve a range of delicious and wacky cocktails.

Cocktail prices start at £9.50 – and mocktails are also available, but you must pre-book to enter.

The cocktail bar has 1,047 reviews on Tripadvisor – and one guest wrote: “AMAZING atmosphere. amazing staff and a must visit!! so many surprises with a great selection of drinks. congratulations to matt cinel

2. Alcotraz Manchester: cell block three-four

This bar is set in a prison, where visitors are immersed in the real-life experience of becoming an inmate – including donning an orange jumpsuit.

There’s no set menu (it’s a prison!), but your cocktails are made by “inmates” based on how much alcohol you can slip into your cell.

The Spooky Bar has 161 reviews on Tripadvisor – and one guest said: ‘It was a brilliant experience from start to finish, we felt completely immersed in the history and the drinks were great!

“One of the band members let the bartender know she was pregnant and she added something special to the drink each time so she knew which one was non-alcoholic but didn’t make her feel left out, for example. example lime instead of a lemon filling, we were very well taken care of and the actors were fabulous!

This quaint, traditional pub is popular for its cask ales and cozy atmosphere.

As well as its great selection of fine Hyde cask ales, it also has a choice of gin, wine, bottled beers and more – and they serve a hot and cold food menu.

The Gray Horse Inn also hosts many beer festivals throughout the year.

The traditional pub has 175 reviews on Tripadvisor – and one guest said: ‘A real old fashioned pub. Friendly, great atmosphere, welcome, brilliant beer and very reasonably priced. Glad we visited”

4. Be in unison

This well-known chain is popular for its cocktails – and it offers over 100 of them.

The Be At One on Deansgate has a modern interior and some of the chain’s coolest light features.

They also offer happy hour until 7 p.m. every day (except Saturday when happy hour ends at 6 p.m.).

The cocktail bar has 356 reviews on Tripadvisor – and one guest said, “10/10 venue. Good atmosphere. I would recommend. One of the best Be At Ones in the UK. I loved. Stunning”

The Comedy Store offers a range of stand-up comedy, fine food, good drinks and music.

There is also a south-facing sun terrace, perfect for al fresco dining on the low, comfortable seats.
