Method. Whisk the flour, salt and cream of tartar in a bowl. Pour the boiling water into a measuring jug and then stir in the oil and a few drops of food colouring. Pour onto the dry ingredients and mix until everything is well combined and the mixture is sticky.
It also makes the play dough smell great! If you don't have any coconut oil to hand though, vegetable oil or even baby oil can be a substitute. All the supplies mentioned in this blog article can be found via the links below.
With this recipe the key is to really make sure you knead the dough well to avoid ending up with an end product that is too sticky or wet. The glycerine is a secret ingredient that makes the playdough extra stretchy and fun!
2 cups water 2 cups flour 1 cup salt 2 tbs cooking oil 4 tsp cream of tartar Food coloring (optional) Add food coloring to water it you wish to color the dough. Mix and heat until ingredients form a ball. Knead until smooth and store in airtight container.
If your playdough is too sticky during the mixing process, simply add more flour, 2 tablespoons at a time, until it becomes less sticky. It's important to note that as the playdough sits and cools after mixing, it'll absorb any remaining water, so when in doubt, let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes before adding more flour.
This recipe calls for 1 cup of hair conditioner. Next I simply needed to open the kitchen pantry and find cornflour/cornstarch. This is what gives it the dough consistency and by adding 2 cups of it to the conditioner after a good knead it becomes lovely and soft, silky and stretchy.
Cover the Play-Doh with clear nail polish for a fast-drying option. Grab a bottle of clear nail polish and spread a thin layer over your clay creation. Check the side of the bottle for the recommended drying time. This is a better solution for smaller projects.
With just flour, water, oil, and salt, you can create a delightful, no-yeast flatbread that's quick to prepare. What is this? While many may associate flour and water solely with making pasta like cavatelli, these simple ingredients are also perfect for homemade flatbreads.
