Boston Magazine Lists Portland’s 10 ‘Can’t Miss’ Restaurants

Portland Maine food scene

It must be tourist season, because the “Best of” lists are coming out hot and heavy.

The latest comes from the popular New England publication, Boston Magazine. The periodical has published an article aimed at the masses who will descend on Maine’s largest city, Portland, this summer.

Portland’s Best Restaurants

The article is titled “10 Must-Try Restaurants in Portland, Maine” (yes, they cut to the chase. I appreciate that). It’s a nice description of 10 Portland restaurants that visitors and locals should pay special attention to.

The list represents Portland well. The 10 restaurants may share a great taste, but differ in genre, style, and neighborhood. Although there are many high-end restaurants on the list, the magazine doesn’t completely focus on them.

There are few surprises. Eventide, The Honey Paw, Chaval and Central Provisions rarely make a “Best of” list these days. And, Fore Street and Duck Fat have long been nationally recognized.

However, it’s great to see Terlingua BBQ and Baharat being recognized. Both have enjoyed huge popularity since opening in their respective times.

There are a few omissions, but this is Portland. This place is littered with outstanding joints of all shapes, flavors and sizes. I’m not sure there’s really a wrong answer to any of these lists, considering the city has around 765 good restaurants.

You can see the full list below. Do you agree with the 10?
