Police called to fight outside Riviera Hotel in Bournemouth

A POLICE officer and a woman were attacked in a fight involving around 10 people outside a hotel in Bournemouth on Sunday evening.

Officers were called to the Riviera Hotel in Burnaby Road, Alum China at 8:44 p.m.

Three people were arrested and remain in custody.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 8.44pm on Sunday June 12, 2022 to reports of a fight outside the Riviera Hotel in Burnaby Road in Bournemouth involving around 10 people.

“It is reported that a woman and a police officer were assaulted during the incident. Their injuries are not classified as serious.

“A 19-year-old man from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a rescue worker and causing criminal damage.

“A 32-year-old Portland woman has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a rescue worker.

“A 28-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of a fight, two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and possession of cannabis.

“All three remain in custody.”

Posting on social media in relation to the incident, Bournemouth PC Police Officer Joel Brooks said: “I sympathize with anyone who saw it or learned any new words.

“I returned to the hotel to reassure staff and guests, but all the residents I saw were obviously not there.”
